Former Mukurweini MP Kabando wa Kabando has conceded defeat in the senator vote in Nyeri county.

Kabando who was seeking the seat on Martha Karua’s Narc Kenya party ticket said he has accepted the people’s choice adding that he remains committed to Nyeri and its people.

“Our #NyeriFirst campaign is on pro-people policy issues: basic needs = basic rights. Voters have spoken. It’s my turn to concede, which I do. Congrats to all winners. As always, I remain actively involved in matters of PUBLIC INTEREST. Asanteni Nyeri. Kìhooto Mbere. MOLA ATULINDE,” he wrote.

Kabando was seeking to unseat Nyeri senator Ephraim Maina.

He was facing off with First Nyeri Woman Representative Pricilla Nyokabi, who was vying on a Jubilee Party ticket and former chairperson for Mathira National Government Constituency Development Fund (NGCDF) Wahome Mwangi of United Democratic Alliance(UDA).

Kabando’s loss follows his 2017 defeat when he failed to defend his Mukurwe-ini MP seat to newcomer Anthony Gathiaka Kiai.
