Justina Wamae: threatening politicians with denial of votes in 2027 is foolish
By Kiprono Keileb, January 4, 2026Former Roots Party presidential candidate Justina Wamae has cautioned Kenyans against using threats over the 2027 General Election as a tool to influence leaders’ performance, describing the approach as counterproductive.
She warned that such tactics could backfire, creating tension and enabling corruption rather than promoting accountability.
In a statement shared on X on Sunday, January 4, 2025, Wamae emphasised the futility of warning politicians that they will be voted out in 2027.

“And by the way, kushinda mkitisha watu that in 2027 you will not give them your vote, they will go home, and other shenanigans are foolhardy.
What makes you think they care? Are you not out of government and still surviving without the government salary?” she asked.
Wamae pointed out that constant reminders to officials about their potential exit from office could lead to unintended consequences, including a lack of motivation and embezzlement.
“The fact that you have consistently told them that they will go home results in them not working but still eating salaries paid from your taxes. Who is losing? You, of course. They embezzle funds as they try to amass as much as they will need to cushion themselves outside government. Unnecessary tension because they too have supporters who say that they are happy with that one you don’t like,” she stated.

She also used a vivid example to illustrate how threats can produce chaos, comparing it to warning a domestic worker prematurely.
“I mean, hata Domestic Manager, you don’t tell them that utamfuta next month, bure utapata amechoma nyumba na watoto ndani,” he stated.
Wamae concluded her message with a call for strategic and thoughtful engagement by voters, urging citizens to exercise wisdom and patience in political matters.
“Can the Kenyan voter strive to have wisdom like the biblical lizard?” she asked.
