Justina Wamae: Streamlining govt services key to winning war on corruption
By Mustafa Juma, September 1, 2025Former Roots Party presidential running mate Justina Wamae has called for urgent reforms in government service delivery.
Taking to her official X account on Monday, September 1, 2025, Wame argued that bureaucratic hurdles are fuelling bribery and corruption in Kenya.
She further noted that the more complicated and opaque government services are, the easier it becomes for corrupt officials to exploit citizens seeking assistance.
“The more red tape, lack of information, and difficulty in getting a government service, the more the bribery and corruption. The war on the aforementioned can partly be won when we simplify and streamline government processes, procedures, and services,” Wamae stated.

Ruto’s stance on corruption
Wamae’s remarks come days after President William Ruto reiterated the government’s commitment to eradicate corruption, stressing that the vice had inhibited the country from making major developmental strides.
Speaking during the installation of Bishop John Arap Lelei in Kapsabet, Nandi County, on Saturday, August 30, 2025, Ruto stated that no individual will be spared in the fight against the vice.
“We also have to devote ourselves to eradicating corruption in this nation. We have to come together and stand on the same side. It’s the reason why we said we have to eliminate tribalism and politics of division. We also have to devote ourselves to abolishing corruption. It’s why I have said that there will be no rank, office, title, region, or any other differentiation regarding matters in dealing with corruption,” he stated.
The president further highlighted the recent revocation of the licences of several healthcare providers, stating that the government would also follow up to ensure the recovery of money stolen from people.
“On healthcare, yesterday we revoked the licenses of 1000 hospitals for stealing public money. We will also follow up and ensure they refund that money. Since there is nothing as criminal and worse as stealing from the sick,’ he added.
Ruto’s plea to church
The president further urged the church and private sector to close ranks and decisively aid the fight against corruption.
“I am glad the church and the public and private sectors are united in standing together as a nation to fight corruption. As citizens we have a duty to move this country forwards, and we have to take part in the opportunity to take part in moving this nation forward,” he added.
