Former Roots Party presidential running mate Justina Wamae has weighed in on the events surrounding the ousted nominated senator Gloria Orwoba, stating that the dramatic standoff outside the Senate has only worked to strengthen Orwoba’s political profile.

Through a statement shared on her Facebook page on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, Wamae argued that the chaos witnessed after Orwoba was blocked from accessing the Senate buildings has elevated her stature, particularly within her Kisii community. She noted that the incident had sparked celebration among her supporters, who view Orwoba as a defender of their interests.

“Keep on keeping on. You cannot understand without wearing your political spectacles. This episode has propelled her to greater heights. The whole of Kisii County is celebration, jubilation and ululations. They have their female warrior, the female defender of the Kisii community.” Justina Wamae said.

Wamae further suggested that Orwoba’s resilience in the face of political setbacks has positioned her as a formidable figure to watch, especially as the 2027 elections approach. She hinted that Orwoba’s growing influence is already being studied by other aspiring leaders as a lesson in political survival.

“Niliwambia hii kitu ni ngumu; ask Antonellah Kakuko, who is busy taking notes from this under the title ‘How to bag the elusive Senatorial nomination’ in the chapter ‘Good Girls Finish Last’ as she prepares for the 2027 price.” She added.

Orwoba’s detention

Elsewhere, Orwoba has shared that she is currently being held at Central Police Station following the fracas witnessed at the Senate.

In a statement shared on her Facebook page on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, Orwoba indicated that she is awaiting charges, which, according to her, are being processed at Parliament Police Station. She explained that officers at Central Police Station informed her they could not proceed since those who ordered her arrest had yet to present themselves.

“I have been detained in Central Police Station. I am awaiting my charges, which are apparently being booked at Parliament Police Station. The central police bosses say that they cannot charge me because the individual who triggered the arrest is not here, and they are the ones to charge me,” Orwoba said.
