A postmortem examination to establish the cause of death of Court of Appeal judge Justice Otieno Odek is set to be conducted today, according to the family. The judge’s elder brother Yonah Odek, said yesterday funeral plans will be announced later.

He said Justice Odek’s body was still preserved at Aga Khan Hospital Mortuary in Kisumu as the family and Judiciary officials held a joint meeting yesterday evening in Nairobi to deliberate on the postmortem and burial arrangements.

Meanwhile, in Mombasa judges, magistrates and other legal practitioners have eulogised Justice Otieno Odek as a man of remarkable law knowledge and enthusiasm.

While paying tribute to the fallen judge, they said justice Odek was a down to earth man who has left behind a legacy worth emulating.

Court of Appeal presiding judge Daniel Musinga said the judge will be remembered for his enormous contribution to the development of the law globally, both as a scholar and as a distinguished judge.
