In efforts to revamp the ruling Jubilee Party ahead of the upcoming elections, its leadership has moved to enhance grassroots mobilization.

The party led by President Uhuru Kenyatta has been on the verge of disintegration with most of its members shifting allegiance to Deputy President William Ruto’s affiliated United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

Ahead of the forthcoming National Delegates Conference where it is expected to endorse ODM leader Raila Odinga as their preferred presidential successor, the recently rebranded party has started mobilization programmes that they hope will see it regain strength and crucial support to have major stakes in the next government.

The party is set to hold its national delegates conference on February 25 and 26 where over 4,000 party members are expected to attend.

In a meeting held at Ngorongo village in Gatundu North Constituency at the weekend, Jubilee MPs upheld that the party is strong and will influence the nation’s politics, going forward.

“Our party has been at work and now that the electioneering period is due, all our energies will be redirected towards helping it regain its former glory,” said Gatundu North legislator Wanjiku wa Kibe (above) when she hosted her colleagues.

The leaders dismissed as claims President Uhuru has no say in determining his successor, stating that while he only has one vote, his influence, being the Jubilee Party leader will be substantial.

“We shall prove the naysayers wrong and that is why we have remained loyal to the party that has initiated development projects across the country, thereby improving the livelihoods of Kenyans,”  Kibe said. Lari MP Jonah Mburu said President Uhuru Kenyatta has organised a series of meetings in Mt Kenya to solidify the party’s support.
