Jubilee Party apologises to Kiaraho family over political clash during late MP’s requiem mass
By Ndiritu Wanjiru, April 10, 2026Jubilee Party has apologised to the family of the late Ol Kalou Member of Parliament, David Kiaraho, after a political tussle between two antagonising sides, where parties interfered with his requiem mass.
The party acknowledged that the incident significantly disrupted what should have been a solemn period of mourning and reflection.
In an address on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the burial of the late legislator in his Tigoni home in Kiambu County, the Deputy Party Leader Jeremiah Kioni expressed the regrets of the party over the unfortunate incidents. Kioni observed that Kiaraho was a committed leader who believed in unity and cooperation across political borders in the interest of the voters who chose them.
“Kiaraho never joked about party politics and knew how to work with others for people who elected them, na kwa sababu tulikuwa kule Ol Kalou na tuliona yale yalitendeka, na kwa niaba ya party leader, tunataka kusema pole kwa watu wa familia na watu wa Ol Kalou.
“Our Jubilee Party is a peaceful party that loves development and works with all people. We should make sure we don’t destroy Kenya with unnecessary words,” Kioni said.

Kioni emphasised that Jubilee prioritises peace, development, and inclusivity. Our Jubilee Party is a party of peace that is fond of development and collaborates with everyone, but again, leaders must maintain decency, particularly in sensitive events like funerals, he added.
Kioni also encouraged political leaders to be cautious in their interactions with the people and against careless speech that can tear the nation apart.

He further emphasised the need to respect Members of Parliament who, he said, give the political parties their power and existence through their efforts and support. Parties owe respect to Members of Parliament, he said, since parties exist on the score of the labour of the MPs.
His comments follow a fiery exchange of words between the politicians present at the requiem mass in Ol Kalou Constituency, which was condemned by both mourners and leaders alike as being political.
