Joy as Kiambu promotes 1,552 county workers

By , November 22, 2021

Some 1552 Kiambu county workers cannot hide their joy after they were promoted to higher job groups after years of waiting.

Governor James Nyoro at the weekend issued letters of promotion to the 1,006 females and 546 males from the 10 different departments at the county headquarters.

About 85 per cent of the promotions went to health workers from the 36 cadres in county’s health department. The promotions clears all the backlog that has been a source of induistrial action among health workers in the county.

Speaking while handing out the letter to the staff, Nyoro said the special consideration had been given to the health workers as an appreciation for their selfless dedication during last year’s peak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

County Public Service Board chair Allan Mwaura said previously lack of a scheme of service to guide the work force had caused career stagnation for many workers in the county, thereby delaying their promotion and creating the challenge of skill mismatch, but that has since been resolve.
