A heavy silence filled Africa Gospel Church (AGC) Karen in Nairobi on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, as family, friends, leaders and mourners gathered for the requiem mass of the late Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ngeno Ngong.

Among those who stood to speak was his brother, Barnabas Ngeno, who addressed the congregation with visible emotion but steady resolve. Barnabas spoke not only as a grieving brother but as a family representative determined to preserve the values and causes that defined Johana’s public life. He reminded mourners that while the pain was deep, there was also reason to give thanks for the time they shared and the impact his brother made.

Barnabas acknowledged the sorrow of the moment while urging those present to focus on gratitude and celebration of Johana’s life and service to the community.

“It is a sad moment, but we thank God that we are here. We wish to celebrate the life of our late brother Johana Ngeno. We cherish his legacy,” he stated.

He then reflected on the hope that even in death, Johana’s work and vision would not end but instead inspire a new chapter for the community he served.

“We hope that even in his death, is the beginning of a new journey. With a solid legacy that he left for us, we will continue with what he cherished,” he stated.

Barnabas went on to outline the key pillars that defined his brother’s mission, stressing unity, justice and opportunities for young talents as central to his legacy.

“A united community, a progressive country, the growth of talents of our artists, land rights and justice for the community, that is what he left us. We thank God for that,” Barnaba stated.

He also took time to appreciate the leaders, friends and supporters who stood by Johana throughout his political journey and during the difficult days following his passing.

“We also appreciate the president and his friends from across the political divide, members from across this country and beyond, who supported his dreams and stood with him. We are grateful,” Barnaba Ngeno stated.

Speaking on behalf of the grieving family, Barnabas expressed heartfelt appreciation to everyone who had shown solidarity during the mourning period.

“On behalf of the family, we thank you all, thank you for standing with us,” the statement reads.

He concluded by acknowledging the support of the Narok County government and offering a message of strength to Johana’s widow.

“I thank the county government of Narok for its great support. May God stand with you, the wife of Johana,” the statement reads.
