Jimi Wanjigi affirms readiness to free Kenya from economic colonialism
By Faith Lagat, September 20, 2025Safina Party leader Jimi Wanjigi has declared his unwavering commitment to liberating Kenya from economic colonialism, positioning himself as a pivotal figure in the nation’s quest for an economic revolution.
In a post on X dated September 20, 2025, Wanjigi stated, “I am ready, fearless, and committed to liberating the people of Kenya and leading the journey from economic colonialism to true economic revolution.”
This declaration was met with enthusiasm, as he noted, “The enthusiasm from the people was overwhelming, the joy and spirit of the young who came together to welcome me as I take up the responsibility to steer Safina toward the economic revolution our country desires.”
The Safina Party’s leadership transition, formalised during the National Delegates Conference (NDC) on September 18, 2025, at Ngong Racecourse, marked a significant shift as outgoing leader Paul Muite handed over the party’s reins to Wanjigi.
The ceremony highlighted a commitment to immediate action against governance failures, with Safina Deputy Leader Willis Otieno emphasising, “Yesterday, @SafinaPartyKE held our Special NDC where we ushered in a new chapter in our journey. Jimmy officially took over the mantle from Senior Counsel @Paul_Muite, a true champion of justice, freedom, and integrity.
We thank Paul for his decades of sacrifice and service to the party and to the nation. His legacy reminds us that leadership is not about titles but about standing firm for truth and accountability. This transition is more than a handover; it is a call to action. Safina now marches forward with one unshakeable mission: an economic revolution.”

Wanjigi’s vision for change
Wanjigi’s vision is encapsulated in the “FIST Agenda”, a comprehensive manifesto unveiled during his inaugural speech, focusing on universal health coverage, free education, repudiation of “odious debts”, and police reforms.
He echoed Muite’s urgency, insisting, “The time is now! We cannot wait; it is time to tackle the economic colonialism we are experiencing NOW! Are you ready to end impunity, oppression, and suppression? Then stand with Safina, raise your voices, and join the fight for Kenya’s true freedom and economic revolution!”
This call to action was further amplified by the Safina Party’s post on X, questioning, “What do you believe must be done to finally end corruption, impunity, oppression, and suppression in our country?”
Wanjigi’s agenda includes rejecting illegitimate debts that currently consume 70 per cent of tax revenue, ensuring sustainable cash flow through “Pesa Mfukoni”, and promising free medical services and education. His pledge to abolish the 18 per cent VAT aims to redirect resources from corruption to public welfare.
