It was assassination attempt- UDA party official speaks on Itumbi’s saga

By , August 14, 2021

United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party Director of Communications Wanjohi Githae claims that there was an assassination attempt against blogger Dennis Itumbi on Friday, August 13.

In a statement he wrote on his Facebook Page, Githae noted that the incident happened shortly after 8 PM and at the same time thanked God that the blogger survived.

“There has been an assassination attempt on Dennis Itumbi shortly after 8 pm this evening. Thank God he is safe. Mungu,” Gitahe wrote on Facebook.

The UDA’s spokesperson did not, however, reveal who wanted Itumbi dead and why.

His comments came after speculations emerged on social media regarding Itumbi’s safety.

This is after a picture of him inside Kasarani Mobile Patrol vehicle emerged on social media leaving a section of Kenyans speculating whether he had been arrested.

By the time of going to the press, no official communication had been released by the government regarding Itumbi’s arrest or assassination.

A day to the assassination claims, the blogger claimed Interior CS Fred Matiang’i was sending him threatening messages.

This is after the CS sent him a demand letter on Wednesday, August 11, to retract his tweet where he had referred to him as “the Ruaraka thief” by Friday and also give an unconditional apology.

The blogger, however, dismissed the demand letter and said he is ready to face the CS in court over the matter.

So, far it is not clear yet whether Itumbi has been arrested given that he has not confirmed or denied the matter
