Isaac Mwaura: No govt has done what Ruto has in 3 years
By Ndiritu Wanjiru, June 15, 2026Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura has defended President William Ruto’s administration, arguing that many Kenyans fail to acknowledge the progress made by the government and often only appreciate leaders after they leave office.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Kameme TV on Monday, June 15, 2026, Mwaura has pointed to recent reductions in fuel prices, noting that diesel prices have dropped by Ksh10 while kerosene prices have remained stable. He also highlighted the government’s decision not to increase electricity costs despite economic pressures.
“We have reduced the prices of fuel, but Kenyans cannot appreciate that. People don’t want to appreciate that the price of diesel has gone down by Ksh10 and that of kerosene remains constant. We have also not increased the cost of electricity,” Mwaura said.

The spokesperson noted that governing often presents challenges that differ from campaign promises, forcing leaders to adjust their priorities once they assume office.
“Sometimes leaders promise to implement certain things, but once they are in office, they are hit with different realities. You can promise what you intend to do, but once in government, you find realities that you cannot evade,” he said.
Mwaura drew comparisons with former President Mwai Kibaki, recalling that while Kibaki fulfilled some of his key campaign pledges, such as the introduction of free primary education, several of his broader goals were achieved later during his tenure.
“If you remember, former President Mwai Kibaki had promised what he would do in his first 100 days. He implemented some of those promises, including free primary education, but there were also long-term goals that were achieved later,” Mwaura stated.
The government spokesperson further argued that history has shown that many leaders are judged more favourably after leaving office than while serving.
“If you look at the leaders we have ever had, they came to be appreciated later after their terms,” he said.
Mwaura: Ruto has set a record
Mwaura maintained that President Ruto’s administration has recorded significant achievements within its first three years, insisting that no previous government has matched its pace of implementation over a similar period.

“No government has done what Ruto’s administration has done in a span of three years,” he said, urging Kenyans to assess the government’s performance based on its accomplishments rather than political criticism.
