Invaders of the former Del Monte land put on notice

Murang’a county commissioner Patrick Mukuria has warned members of the public invading the land which previously belonged to Del Monte company.

Mukuria said anybody who will be found trespassing on the land will be arrested and charged saying the land is purely for development purposes.

Speaking in Maragua during the Mashujaa Day celebrations, the commissioner said the 1,400 acres ceded by the fruit processing company was handed over to the county government which is to undertake various projects.

He said on several incidents, there has been attempts to halt the ongoing constitution of level five hospital being established by the county.

Demanding shares

He said a group of youths affiliated to Kandara Residents Association have stormed into the parcel of land demanding a share claiming the land was grabbed from their fore fathers by the white settlers.

“We won’t allow anybody invade the land and those intending to grab it are also put on notice” said Mukuria.

The commissioner also urged the locals not the be duper by rouge land brokers who are claiming to be selling the land saying the government will not be responsible for any money lost.

“There are some unscrupulous dealers who are duping members of the public into buying the land and they even have opened offices nearby but this is just a trap,” he added.

“This land is wholly for development purposes and not even an inch will go to an individual” he remarked.
