Interior PS warns youth against being used in destructive protests amid crackdown
Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has warned young people against being used to loot and destroy property during protests.
Speaking on Sunday, June 29, 2025, the PS indicated that some political leaders were using young people to steal and destroy property during demonstrations.
He went on to explain that the unknown political leaders were using them to advance their vested interests.
However, Omollo cautioned them, indicating that the long arm of the law would catch up with them, and the political leaders would be nowhere to defend them.
“We issue a stern warning to leaders who exploit young people for violent ends. This manipulation is both immoral and a betrayal of the very future they claim to represent,” he stated.
“To the youth who have allowed themselves to be drawn into acts of destruction and intimidation, take heed. The law is clear and so is our resolve,” he added.

Crackdown
Omollo also confirmed that the security agencies were pursuing various individuals connected to looting and destroying property during the Wednesday, June 25, 2025, protests.
Omollo insisted that all those who participated in unlawful activities would face the law.
“Those responsible for looting, inciting unrest and terrorising communities during recent demonstrations will be held accountable.”
DCI arrests
His sentiments come hours after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) confirmed the arrests in a statement on Sunday, June 29, 2025.
In Mbeere South, DCI officers arrested two suspects and recovered a white water tank with a metal casting.
Elsewhere, in the Kikuyu and Dagoretti areas, a Nissan matatu was intercepted by detectives, and investigations revealed that the vehicle was used to ferry persons of interest from Gachui-Mutuini to Dagoretti Centre.
Seven more were arrested in Mai Mahiu in relation to the theft of domestic goods from a well-known hotel. Among the stolen goods were packets of maize flour and other food items, according to images released by DCI.
