If their goal was to silence me, then they have dialed the wrong number – Muturi

Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary (CS) Justin Muturi has sent a cryptic message to the government following his sacking last week.
In a statement, Muturi who was shown the door on March 26, 2025, made it clear that he will not be silenced, adding that he will never tire fighting for the rights of Kenyans.
“If their goal was to silence me, then they’ve dialed the wrong number for I will never tire fighting for the rights of the People of Kenya,” he said.
Muturi’s sacking followed after his sustained criticism against President William Ruto’s administration over the abduction of his son during the anti-finance bill demos that rocked the country last year.
His was replaced by Mbeere North Member of Parliament (MP) Geoffrey Ruku.

Recently, Ruto came out to disclose his reason for the firing of Muturi and his reshuffle from the country’s Attorney General to a CS.
Addressing journalists on Monday, March 31, 2025, the president defended his decision noting that Muturi had asked not to be appointed to the position as he had not practiced law in a while.

“I gave Muturi a job to be the attorney general. He told me, that because he had not practised for a long time since he was a magistrate, went to parliament and became a speaker, he would not be able to do it. After some time I saw that for sure he was not able to do the job. Maybe it was my mistake because I persuaded him to do the job. I saw it good to change the job for him and game him a ministerial job,” Ruto said.
“Later he went on strike and stopped attending cabinet meetings. What was I supposed to do?”
Ruto went on to state that Muturi was incompetent, forcing him to move him to the Public Service.
Further, the president asserted that Muturi skipped cabinet meetings during their disagreement, explaining that he was only open to attending them once the issue of abductions was addressed.
“I had a problem with the AG who was there before—he was fairly incompetent. But now, I have a very competent lady in the position, and I can assure you that the issues of Wakf will be sorted out within months,” Ruto stated.
