Ida Odinga asks Kenyans to forgive Raila if he ever wronged them

By , November 6, 2025

Ida Odinga, the widow of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, has pleaded on behalf of her late husband to Kenyans, asking them to forgive him if he ever wronged them.

While speaking during the visitation of Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka at Opoda Farm on Thursday, November 6, 2025, she asked Kenyans who ever thought the late Raila had annoyed them not to hold grudges but to release him in forgiveness.

She said that if anyone felt he had wronged them or did something they did not like, they should forgive him because he is gone, and she can ask for their forgiveness on his behalf.

“On behalf of my husband, to all those people who call him names and who think he was wrong if he annoyed you or did something that you did not like, I beg you to forgive him, because he’s gone, but I can do that on his behalf,” Idah said.

Idah, who has maintained silence since the burial of the late leader, emphasised that Raila was a forgiving person and always encouraged people to forgive and move on. She asked that no one hold grudges against him, as he is no longer in the world but with his Maker, with Christ, and with God.

Her belief

She added that she believes his spirit is looking down and wondering why people are crying, as he is in a good place.

“Forgive him, because he was easy. He was forgiving people easily. He said, ‘Forgive, and let’s move on.’ So you also, wherever you are, don’t hold grudges with him. He’s already gone. He’s with his maker. He’s with Christ. He’s with God. He’s not here. In fact, I think the spirit is looking down at you and saying, What are they crying about?” she added

Idah Odinga, who was recently coronated as a lay canon of the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK), expressed her confidence that if people go to a good place because of their past deeds, Raila is one of those people.
