Ichung’wah vows to fulfil his dad’s promise of building a house for his driver

Speaking during the burial of his father in Kikuyu on Monday, September 15, 2025, Ichung’wah stated that he would fulfil a promise his late father made to his long-serving driver, whom he affectionately referred to by his second name, Njogu.

“Mzee’s driver, Njogu, has become part of Mzee’s children. I want to tell you in honour of my father, I will build a house for your children, and you will continue working for our mum,” he stated.
He revealed how his dad committed to the driver, who chauffeured him for the better part of his life.
“He(Njogu) used to drive him to Nakuru, and he once asked Njogu if he could get somewhere he could build a house, and he would help him build a home for his children,” Ichung’wah added.
Kingi praises
Ichungw’ah’s pledge comes after Senate Speaker Amason Kingi praised the leader for going against the grain in his loyal support of President Ruto.
Speaking during the burial of Ichungw’ah’s father in Kikuyu on Monday, September 15, 2025, the speaker lauded the MP for his astute leadership.
He noted that the National Assembly Majority Leader made an unpopular decision, but it was a good one for the development of his constituency.
“You need to lead people to where they are supposed to go, and that is where you can find development. Ichungw’ah would have chosen to fight Ruto’s government, come back to his constituency, and be raised high on shoulders as a hero. But at the end of the day, those same people would demand roads and other basic services provided by the government,” he stated.
The function also saw leaders allied from different political divides hail the lawmaker as a steadfast and uncompromised leader.
