National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah has responded to former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s remarks alleging that the current administration was intimidating him.

Speaking on Monday, May 22, 2023, Ichung’wah told off the former Head of State noting that the claims were false and that he was only scared that the ‘sabotage’ he was ‘financing’ had come to an end.

He claimed that no one was interested in intimidating the former president since they were busy fixing the economy he (Uhuru) ‘destroyed’.

“It is not fear that is being sold to Uhuru Kenyatta, what Uhuru is afraid of is the sabotage he was financing through violent demonstrations that have come to an end. I want to say that he has no currency of violence to protect his ill-acquired health, massive looting done by him and his colleagues under the handshake regime.

“We want to tell him, nobody is selling fear to you, nobody is intimidating you in any way. You have your right as a former president to do what you want to do and you are protected by the opposition and we will protect your rights after we protect the rights of these Kenyans who want a peaceful country where they can do business and rebuild the economy which you and Raila Odinga destroyed under the handshake regime,” he stated.

He further indicated that the former president was free to return to the political scene at his own free will but they will now deal with him as a party activist and not a former president.

“We only respect you as our former president. If you want to degrade yourself from the level of a retired president to a party activist, we shall deal with you as a party activist,” he said.

Earlier, Uhuru announced that he would not be exiting the political scene.

Speaking at the party’s National Delegates Conference (NDC) held at the Ngong Racecourse on Monday, May 22, 2023, Uhuru affirmed that he was planning to retire from active politics but changed his mind after some people thought they could intimidate him.
