Presidential aspirant Jimmy Wanjigi wants President Uhuru Kenyatta to join the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) arguing it is the most democratic party in the country.

Speaking at Ngong on Thursday, August 12 evening, Wanjigi welcomed the move by the President to support Raila Odinga’s presidency expressing optimism that he, Wanjigi, can easily defeat the former prime minister.

“I am have heard romours from the media that President Uhuru is supporting a Raila presidency, I welcome the move. In fact the president should join ODM and campaign for Raila,” Wanjigi said.

Wanjigi who was quick to note that Raila had not stated whether he will run for presidency in 2022 said he was confident he could beat the ODM chief at the party’s primaries.

“Although Raila has not officially declared whether he will be vying for presidency and on which ticket. If he will vie with the ODM ticket I will defeat him in the party primaries. ODM is a party to watch because I am certain that ODM will conduct free and fair nominations and allow justice to prevail,” Wanjigi said.

Wanjigi further argued that ODM is a political party founded and run on the basis of democracy compared to other political parties in the country.

He said he will lead ODM party popularization campaigns across the county to increase its membership in an effort to ensure it delivers the next president.

“Within the shortest time possible we will increase our party membership from 2.6 million registered members to millions. Kenyans are ready for the leadership revolution this party will bring in the country,” Wanjigi said.

The presidential hopeful who launched an ODM office called on Kajiado residents to enroll in the party in large numbers saying the political party is founded on basis on democracy.

“As ODM we are committed to reach our to Kenyans at the grassroots to understand our policies and what we stand for. We will reach out to individuals to ensure that we adhere to the Covid-19 safety protocols,” he further said.
