How DCI nabbed 3 with loaded guns, recovered 62 phones in Kayole
By Aloys Michael, May 14, 2026Three persons of interest were arrested by detectives from Kayole Police Station after officers recovered a loaded Retay Falcon pistol during a dramatic chase along Kangundo Road in Nairobi’s Eastlands.
The operation began near the Saika stage when police officers on routine patrol spotted a motorcycle carrying a rider and two passengers behaving suspiciously.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the motorcycle rider suddenly accelerated into Saika Estate after noticing the officers, prompting an immediate pursuit.
“The motorcycle sped off into Saika Estate, raising immediate suspicion and triggering a swift police pursuit,” the DCI wrote on X on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
Officers intercepted the motorcycle moments later, but the two passengers abandoned the bike and fled on foot through the busy estate. Police officers gave chase as residents watched the tense pursuit unfold in the neighbourhood.
During the chase, DCI said one person of interest dropped an object while attempting to escape. Officers later recovered it and discovered it was a Retay Falcon pistol loaded with 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

“Lying on the ground was a Retay Falcon pistol loaded with 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition,” the DCI stated.
The motorcycle rider was arrested at the scene while detectives launched a manhunt for the third suspect, who had escaped into the wider Eastlands area.
Investigations led officers to Dandora Phase Four, where detectives raided a house believed to be linked to the fleeing suspect.
During the operation, police recovered a Ceska pistol magazine loaded with 16 rounds of 9mm ammunition alongside dozens of suspected stolen items.

Among the items seized were 62 assorted mobile phones, electronic devices, a Mercedes-Benz ignition key and several other goods believed to be connected to criminal activities.
The DCI said the arrests and recoveries point to what investigators suspect could be an organised criminal syndicate operating within Nairobi’s Eastlands region.
“The suspects are currently being held at Kayole Police Station undergoing processing pending arraignment, as officers widen investigations into what is suspected to be an organised criminal syndicate operating within Nairobi’s Eastlands,” the statement read.
The latest arrests come amid ongoing security operations targeting armed gangs and criminal networks across Nairobi estates, with authorities intensifying patrols and intelligence-led crackdowns to curb rising insecurity in the city.
