By , March 3, 2022

Here is a critical look at each hole at the slightly modified Muthaiga Golf Club Course for the Magical Kenya Open Golf Championships.

Hole No 1 (Par 4, 442 yards)

This is a long par 4 of about 442 yards, dog-leg right to the green. Before you get to the green there is a big dam on the left with moving water, its like a river and on the upper side we also have water and the green is surrounded by two bunkers on the right and left.

Hole No 2 (Par 3, 220 yards)

Here you need to cross the river. There is an upper green surrounded by three bunkers, one just before you get to the green and the other two on the right and left sides of the green.

Hole No 3 (Par 4, 337 yards)

This hole does not have any fairway bunkers, but the green is surrounded by two bunkers on the left and right. The bunker on the right is bigger, almost taking half of the green.

Hole No 4 (Par 5, 551 yards)

This is a long par five of about 551 yards, dog leg. You can’t see the green from the tee box. There is a fairway bunker just about 150 yards from the tee box on the left, then there is nothing else until you get to the green where there is a bunker just before the green, then there is another bunker on the right.

Hole No 5 (Par 3, 223 yards)

This hole is surrounded by two big bunkers on the right and left of the green, with bushes on either sides of the fairway.

Hole No 6 (Par 4, 557 yards)

This is the longest par 4 hole on the course, with a length of 557 yards from the blue tee. We have a fairway bunker like 150 yards from tee box and before you get to the green, there is a bunker on the right side of the green.

Hole No 7 (Par 5, 616 yards)

This is the longest hole in the course, a par 5 of 616 yards. It doesn’t have any fairway bunker but has a big water hazard on the left of the green with two hazards on the right side of the green.

Hole No 8 (Par 4, 498 yards)

This is another long par 4 of 498 yards. It doesn’t have any fairway bunker but there is one bunker about 50 yards to the green and the green is surrounded by two bunkers, one left and right sides.

Hole No 9 (Par 4, 414 yards)

Here you need to cross the river again, the same river one crosses while on hole two. However, this hole does not have any fairway bunker, but it has two sand bunkers and one grass bunker surrounding the green.

Hole No 10 (Par 5, 539 yards)

This hole is 539 yards long, dog-leg right. On the left side of the green there is a water hazard and on the right side there is a bunker. From the tee box to about 170 yards it’s dog-leg right, you have to turn right after the dog-leg to be able to see the green. On the left side before you get to the green there is a water hazard, if you pool your ball to the left and it doesn’t get to the green, it will definately land in the water. The bunker on the right side of the green is towards the walking path to hole 11.

Hole No 11 (Par 3, 217 yards)

A short hole 217 yards long with a banker just before the green and another bunker immediately after the green. On the left there is an Out of Bound (OB) but there is an opening, it is not that tight.

Hole No 12 (Par 4, 459 yards)

This is a long par 4 with two bunkers on the fairway, one on the right and one on the left. After the bunkers towards the green, there are two more bunkers, one just before the green and the other one immediately after the green.

Hole No 13 (Par 3, 191 yards)

This is another shot hole with a length of 191 yards. We have a large water hazard just from the tee box to the green on the right. The green is also surrounded by two bunkers, one on the right and the other one on the left. This is where most corporate firms have been placing their hole-in-one prize during previous Kenya Open events at Muthaiga Golf Club.

Hole No 14 (Par 4, 474 yards)

This another long par 4 with two bunkers just before the green, one on the right the other one on the left.

Hole No 15 (Par 4, 396 yards)

This hole has a water hazard on the right but not a big one and on the left, we have a fairway bunker on the left. There is another bunker on the left of the green.

Hole No 16 (Par 3, 224 yards)

This a slightly long par three without any bunker. This is the only hole in Muthaiga without a bunker or water hazard, but there is a dam in between that separates holes 15, 16 and 17.

Hole No 17 (Par 4, 346 yards)

This is a short par four of about 346 yards with a water hazard extending all the way to near the green on the left and a fairway bunker on the right. Then there are also two bunkers surrounding the green, one on the left and the other one on the right.

Hole No 18 (Par 5, 534 yards)

This a long par five hole of about 534 yards long. There are two fairway bunkers on the right and left just about 200 yards from the tee box and the fairway very narrow in between the two bunkers. When approaching the green, there are three bunkers surrounding the green, one on the right, one on the left and another one immediately after the green.
