Gov’t begins roadshow to take stock of its achievements

The Kenya Kwanza administration has kicked off a roadshow to take stock of its achievements since taking over.

The roadshow started at the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection headed by Florence Bore.

“The Government Roadshow has began this morning, with our first stop at the Ministry of Labour & Social Protection. This roadshow takes stock of achievements and progress of Ministries, State Departments & Agencies,” Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura said.

In a statement, Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management Moses Kuria said the Ministry of Labour had made tremendous achievements.

“Key among these achievements include an increase in NSSF membership from 1.2 million to 2.9 million members signifying a 66% growth in one year, an increase in NSSF savings from Ksh1.4B to Ksh5.6 billion signifying a 600% growth and an increase in job placement locally and abroad from 2.9 million to 3.1 million signifying a 3.8% growth,” Kuria stated.

Among those present include Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management Moses Kuria, Secretary to the Cabinet Mercy Wanjau, Principal Secretary for the State Department for Labour and Skill Development Shadrack Mwadime, PS Social Protection and Senior Citizens Affairs Joseph Motari, PS for the State Department for Parliamentary Affairs Aurelia Chepkirui Rono, and PS for the State Department for Performance and Delivery Management Veronica Nduva.

The event, which will go on for seven days, brings on board 22 government ministries. Announcing the event on Monday, Kuria said the roadshow will help government agencies align with the Kenya Kwanza policies.

“We discussed the preparation of the seven-day government roadshow that kicks off tomorrow 9th January. The roadshow will bring together 22 ministries to enable us to evaluate government programmes and projects in alignment with The Plan, Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda, Medium Term Plan and Vision 2030,” Kuria stated.

After the roadshow, the government officials will generate a report which will be presented during a cabinet retreat.
