After accompanying President William Ruto on a development tour in Kisumu County, Siaya Governor James Orengo has said that he believes a united and prosperous Kenya is achievable.

President Ruto toured Kisumu on Saturday, August 31, 2024, in what is his third day in the Nyanza region. Orengo was among the top-level Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders, who accompanied the Head of State.

“Thank you, Kisumu County, for the love. A united, prosperous Kenya is achievable,” Orengo said in a statement on X.

Ruto, while at Kisumu, addressed a number of rallies, including one at Kondele. The president was visibly moved by the reception of the residents.

Nataka niwaambie vijana, hio Kazi mtaani baada ya mwezi mmoja mjipange. Mtajipanga? I want to tell the young people that after one month, start preparing for Kazi Mtaani. Will you prepare yourselves?” Ruto asked while addressing a jovial crowd.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who was also present, was jovial as he addressed an equally excited crowd.

The Nyanza region visit by President Ruto and his deputy comes after the formation of a broad-based government. During the tour, Ruto tried to convince the region why he saw a need to incorporate Raila Odinga’s top men into his government.
