Governor Ntutu reveals plans he made with Johana Ng’eno before chopper crash

Patrick Ole Ntutu has emotionally recounted the last conversation and plans he had with his son-in-law, Johana Ng’eno, before the tragic plane crash that claimed his life.

According to Ntutu, Ng’eno had reassured him that arrangements had already been made for him to travel to the event once he completed his earlier engagements.

Speaking during a funeral service held on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Emurua Dikirr Primary School in Emurua Dikirr constituency, Ntutu said the two had spoken shortly before Ng’eno boarded the ill-fated flight. The governor said that they had planned to meet later that day to give out scholarships to students in the area, but that meeting never happened.

“Ng’eno aliniambia usijali, Gavana; mimi niko na ndege nikitoka Nandi/Endebess, nitatuma ndege nikiwa Emurua Dikirr nikuchukue halafu uje tupeane bursaries. Little did I know that was the last time that I would talk to my son-in-law,” Ntutu said.

The governor said that Ng’eno had to travel between events before he could go back to Emurua Dikirr, where they were supposed to give out scholarships to help students from poor families. The meeting that was planned was meant to show how leaders are working together to make it easier for people in the area to get an education.

Instead, the day turned into one of mourning after news broke of the crash that killed Ng’eno and four other occupants aboard the aircraft.

During the emotional ceremony attended by leaders, family members, and hundreds of residents, Ntutu described Ng’eno as a committed leader who had deep love for his people and family. He also remembered him as a dedicated public servant whose main goal was to make life better for the people he worked for.

People from Narok and nearby counties came together for the funeral service to pay their last respects to Ng’eno and the four other people who died in the terrible crash. People in Emurua Dikirr remembered the late leader for being easy to talk to and dedicated to improving the community, especially through education and giving young people power.
