Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria has dismissed plans by a section of leaders from the Mt.Kenya region to form a coalition ahead of the next year’s polls.

The governor said the leaders who claim to be forming an alliance so as to negotiate on behalf of the people from the region are out to serve their own interests.

Wa-Iria says the residents don’t need anybody to negotiate on their behalf on who to become the leader for the region instead anybody who needs to woo them should come directly to the ground.

“We don’t want power brokers in the region because the people here are able to choose who they would like to be their leader and speak out on issues they would like addressed,” he said.

He argues the leaders have been holding talks behind closed doors to discuss how they shall sell out the region to another person.

Further, he said this will be treating the region like a commodity that is up for auction to be sold to the highest bidder and this is not acceptable.

“The region is not up for auction and people should stop claim they are negotiating for us because we have not appointed anyone to be our spokesperson,” he said.

Last week three leaders Martha Karia for Narc Kenya, Mwangi Kiunjuri for The Service Party and Moses Kuria of Chama cha Kazi teamed up saying they shall form a coalition to negotiate for the people of the region.

The trio said they shall be working together to ensure the region is united and revealed of making a major declaration in the next three months.

Wa Iria who has declared his bid for the presidency said he has his strategy to capture the region rolled out exuding confidence of taking the majority of the votes from the region.

He said the registration of people to join his Usawa kwa wote party is ongoing and he shall start going around the region to meet the people and sell out his policy.

“Let anyone who is interested in vying for presidency come to the ground, meet the people and sell his agenda instead of relying on brokers” he added.
