Governor Kibwana questions Kalonzo’s clearance by DCI on Yatta land saga

By , August 28, 2021

Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana now wants the Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to provide details of an enquiry that resulted in him being cleared of corruption allegations involving ownership of his Yatta farm.

According to Kibwana, the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) cannot clear one of corruption allegations since the role falls under the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

KIbwana also wondered how the matter was investigated yet no complaint was raised over the matter.

“@DCI_Kenya is to investigate criminal activity upon complaint by individuals, institutions or on its own motion. But an individual can approach @EACCKenya to clear an integrity issue. Who complained against @skmusyoka? VP do share the details of the DCI enquiry,” Governor Kibwana requested.

On Wednesday, August 25, Kalonzo was cleared by DCI over allegations that he grabbed the National Youth Service (NYS) land in Yatta, where his rural home sits on.

According to DCI boss George Kinoti, the Former Vice President acquired the land which his rural Yatta home sits on legally.

Kinoti established that the land, owned by Kalonzo’s company PASTEV Holdings Limited, was procedurally bought from a company known as BETRACO Limited.

He further established that NYS has no ownership links of the land as alleged.

“The National Youth Service alleged to be the legitimate owners of the subject property categorically stated that they have no bona fide propriety ownership interest if the same at all. It is, therefore, established that the property mentioned above is legally owned by PASTEV Holdings Limited,” DCI boss Kinoti said in a letter dated August 12, 2022.
