Mombasa Governor Hassan Ali Joho is admitted in hospital with Malaria.

Joho has reportedly been undergoing treatment at the Mombasa Hospital since last Sunday

Yesterday, Joho who looked frail said doctors had given him a clean bill of health and was expecting to be discharged in a few hours time.

Speaking from his hospital bed when former Nigerian President Olesugen Obasanjo paid him a visit, Joho said he checked himself at the facility but his condition worsened later forcing doctors to admit him.

“I have been at the hospital since Sunday when doctors advised that I be admitted to enable them monitor my health condition,” he said.

Joho who is the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) deputy party leader has been out of the public limelight for almost two weeks and was not seen at Kibra during the party’s campaigns for MP-elect Imran Okoth.

“I look forward to being discharged today. I was diagnosed with Malaria. I feel I have recovered fully and my condition has improved,” he said.

Joho on a lighter note claimed that ODM’s victory in Kibra had made his health improve.

“What has made me feel better today is waking up to the good news that Okoth has won the seat, I hereby send my best wishes to him,” Joho said.

While sending his congratulatory message to Okoth, Joho said the victory had cemented ODM’s claim on its political turf.

He regretted that his illness had made him miss the Kibra campaigns.

Mvita Member of Parliament Abulswamad Nassir, Mombasa senator Mohammed Faki and his Kwale counterpart Boy Issa, among other politicians, also visited him at the hospital.
