Governor Cecily Mbarire pens emotional tribute after death of her father
Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire has paid an emotional tribute following the death of her father, Mzee Mbogo Kabuthi.
Taking to her official Facebook page on Saturday, January 3, 2026, Governor Mbarire described him as not only a parent but also a friend, mentor, and pillar of strength whose life was defined by dignity, faith, and humility.
She mourned the loss while celebrating a life she said was lived with purpose and unwavering devotion.
“Rest in eternal peace, my father and friend, Mzee Mbogo Kabuthi. You fought a good fight, you ran your race with dignity, and you kept the faith to the very end,” Mbarire stated.

Man of wisdom
She further described her late father as a man of wisdom whose values shaped her life and leadership, noting that his influence extended far beyond family to the many lives he touched within the community.
“Your life was a testament to wisdom, humility, and steadfast devotion. Though we mourn your passing, we take comfort in the assurance that you have gone to a better place, where there is rest and eternal reward. Your legacy will live on in the lives you touched and the values you instilled. Rest in Peace,” she stated.
According to a poster shared by Mbarire, her late father died on December 26, 2025, at the age of 82.

Kaluma’s message of condolence
Leaders, such as Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Kaluma, have sent their messages of condolence to the Embu County boss.
Taking to his official X account on Saturday, January 3, 2026, Kaluma prayed that God comforts and strengthens Mbarire and her entire family for the loss of their father.
“Pole sana H.E. @CecilyMbarire and your entire family. May Jehovah comfort and strengthen you. May He shine eternal light upon Mzee and grant him eternal rest,” Kaluma stated.

Mbarire has not, however, revealed the burial date for her late father.
