Germany to help Kenya in fighting joblessness
By Mathew Ndungu and James Wakahiu, April 11, 2025Germany will continue supporting Kenya in its efforts to boost youth employment. Deputy Ambassador of the Germany Embassy in Nairobi, Alexander Fierley pledged that their country will continue to offer industry-oriented technical and vocational training to students from local institutions in a bid to equip them with the required market skills.
Speaking at Mount Kenya University (MKU) during a visit aimed at enhancing the institution’s collaboration with Hochschule Koblenz, a German-based public university, Fierley reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to supporting academic exchange programmes and fostering strong partnerships.
Welcoming the guests, Vice Chancellor Deogratius Jaganyi said MKU remains dedicated to expanding global learning opportunities for students, empowering them with international exposure and career development pathways.
The diplomats tour came a few days after a group of nursing apprentices (Cohort 3) from MKU arrived safely in Germany ready to commence learning in German hospitals.
