‘Tuko nyuma ya Gachagua’ – Embakasi North MP James Gakuya throws weight behind DP amid fallout rumours

By , May 19, 2024

Embakasi North Member of Parliament James Gakuya has thrown his weight behind Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua amid rumours of fallout within the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

Gakuya accompanied the UDA’s second-in-command as they attended the Sacred Heart Endarasha Catholic Church, in Kieni Constituency, Nyeri County, for a Sunday, May 19, 2024, service. After several days out of the public limelight, the former Mathira MP made an appearance in Kieni Sub-County.

Meanwhile, the Nairobi legislator warned against a divided Mount Kenya region and insisted on a unified front led by Gachagua.

Nia yoyote ya kujaribu kumtingiza tingiza kazi yake itakuwa haina nguvu na tunasema hatutaki kuona dalili hio,” Gakuya said as he addressed congregants.

Gakuya warned that the Mount Kenya region might end up divided should they allow forces from outside the region to interfere with their own affairs.

Lazima tujue nguvu yetu ndio umoja wetu,” he continued.

The MP also touched on matters of Nairobi County and stressed the need for businessmen from Mount Kenya doing business with the city government to be respected and paid for services delivered.

Mimi nasema wakati tunasema kule Nairobi, wafanyi biashara wetu walipwe haki yao.

Wale wanafanya kazi na County Government ya Nairobi, sisi hatusemi ukabila, tunasema watu wetu wana haki, na wafanyi biashara wapewe haki zao,” the MP continued.

Gakuya also asked the DP to push for the government to write off debts accrued by coffee farmers in the region.

The DP was accompanied by other MPs including Wainaina Chieni, Mugambi Rindikiri, G.K. Ruku, Jayne Kihara, Benjamin Gathiru Mejja Donk, John Mutunga, and former Laikipia Woman Representative Cate Waruguru.
