Gachagua makes dramatic entrance in Narok while wearing a helmet

By , November 24, 2025

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, leader of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), made a dramatic entry into Narok town on Monday, November 24, 2025, while campaigning for DCP candidate Douglas Masikonde in Narok Ward.

Gachagua claimed that government authorities had issued orders to block him and his team from accessing the town. Donning a helmet for protection, he said he navigated through village paths unknown to the police, guided by residents, and entered Narok to a warm reception from thousands of jubilant supporters.

“Clear instructions had been issued by this cowardly and brutal regime to block me and my entourage from accessing Narok Town to campaign for the DCP Democracy Candidate for Narok Ward Hon. Douglas Masikonde,” Gachagua wrote on social media.

“The people, a people united are stronger than all roadblocks, than all bullets, than all stones, than all teargas you have in store and high seas and than any dictator in the world!”

“Being a villager, I engaged my fellow villagers in Narok who guided through village paths unknown to the police and made a triumphant entry in Narok town and received by thousands of jubilant DCP supporters. How can you beat me in my game?”

Intimidation

Gachagua thanked the local youth and villagers for guiding him safely through alternative routes and for standing firm during the campaign. He described the Narok entry as a demonstration that the will of the people cannot be suppressed by force or intimidation.

“The villagers triumphed, and we have affirmed that the will of the people is supreme and the 27th November 2025 by-elections will spell this out clearly.”

Gachagua added that no amount of “blood money, police brutality, or excessive force” could cow the people of Kenya.

“No amount of blood money, police brutality or police excessive force will cow or intimidate the people of the Republic of Kenya. Thank you to the great people of Narok especially the young people for standing firm for us today. The will of the people shall never be subverted at any given moment. Kenya is not your ordinary African Country turned into a monarch!”

Election interference in Magarini

Gachagua’s campaign in Narok comes amid heightened political tensions and accusations of electoral interference in other by-elections. Earlier on Monday, November 24, 2025, he accused IEBC Vice Chairperson Fahima Araphat Abdallah of interfering with the Magarini Constituency by-election, also set for November 27, 2025.

In a letter addressed to IEBC Chairperson Erastus Edung, Gachagua claimed that Abdallah had overstepped her mandate and employed corrupt, covert means to favour a preferred candidate. He said Abdallah travelled to Magarini on November 21, 2025, where she intimidated electoral officials and demanded a full list of presiding officers and their contacts.

Gachagua claimed that Abdallah later held a private meeting at a hotel in Malindi with Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro and IEBC Commissioner Alutalala Mukhwana. During the meeting, he claimed, negotiations for a bribe took place, with the aim of handing over presiding officers’ details in exchange for financial incentives to influence the election.

Gachagua described the conduct as shocking and unacceptable. He warned that the interference casts serious doubts on IEBC’s ability to manage the 2027 General Election. He called for all presiding officers in Magarini to be replaced immediately, demanded an investigation into Abdallah’s conduct, and requested that she be barred from future elections.
