Gachagua claims top security officials are running goons headquarters from Lavington
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has accused unnamed top security officials of running what he described as a ‘goons headquarters’ from Lavington, claiming that coordinated political violence in the country is being planned from the facility.
Speaking during a church service at PEFA Works in Kajiado County on Sunday, April 12, 2026, Gachagua claimed that groups involved in recent disruptions of political meetings were being coordinated at a central office.
“Hii maneno ya goonism, kuna ofisi imefunguliwa pale Lavington. Kazi ya goonism, ile yote inaendelea Kenya ndio wanapanga,” he said.
He further claimed that the country’s security leadership had failed in its mandate, accusing it of enabling intimidation and violence.
Gachagua linked the claimed coordination to recent incidents in Kiambu and other areas, saying the same group of people was involved in multiple attacks on political gatherings and places of worship.
Youth reject recruitment bid
He claimed that a political operative recently attempted to recruit youths from the area community into violent activity, offering them money to participate.
“Ile maneno imetokea jana, huyu mjumbe alijaribu kupanga goons vijana na akawapatia deposit ya five million,” he claimed.

According to Gachagua, the youths later rejected the offer after consulting elders and returned the money.
“Usiku vijana wakafanya mkutano na wazee, wakamrudishia pesa yake,” he said.
He added that the rejection of the claimed deal forced the individual involved to issue threats about resigning from office.
“Ndio akakimbia akasema tukikubaliwa kufanya mkutano ataisha, na ataresign. He threatened that asiposaidiwa na polisi atawacha kazi,” Gachagua said.
He also linked the claimed group to earlier incidents involving disruptions of political events and church gatherings, saying they operated as a coordinated unit.
“So the unit that attacked us in Kiambu was not the local police, they are actually complaining. It is the same squad that attacked us at the Witima Church. A squad of 12 police officers,” he claimed.
The remarks come amid growing political tension and renewed accusations between rival camps over claimed use of organised groups to disrupt political activities.
