Four KDF soldiers die, one cop injured in separate car crashes

Four Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officers from Solio Barracks in Isiolo County were Sunday night killed in a road accident on Meru-Isiolo highway.

The accident happened when a Nissan Note carrying the four lost control and hit an oncoming Toyota Axio.

The occupants of the Toyota; a man, wife and three children, sustained serious injuries.

While confirming the incident, Timau OCS Antony Katana said the soldiers died on the spot while the injured family members were rushed to St. Theresa Kiirua Hospital in Meru.

“The man and the wife sustained hand and chest injuries and were rushed to St.Theresa Kiirua Hospital for treatment. The bodies of the four officers were taken to Kiirua Mortuarym,” said the OCS.

Meanwhile, a police inspector attached to Kiganjo Police College in Nyeri has been critically injured in another car accident.

Juma, Kambi Mwachala was hit by a Toyota Fielder near Barclays Bank in Nyeri town.

The officer is currently receiving treatment in hospital.
