Former nominated senator Paul Njoroge Ben has called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to stop politicians campaigning for 2022 saying the rallies are a recipe for chaos.

Speaking in Thika, Kiambu County after condoling with the families of the two young men who lost lives during the skirmishes at Kenol in Murang’a County, Njoroge urged the Head of State to intervene and stop the leaders from taking the country into a campaign mood.

He told off the Deputy President William Ruto for conducting campaign rallies in central Kenya saying that the vast region was not ready to lose more lives should more fracas erupt.

The former lawmaker who gave the two families Sh 119,000 to support burial preparations told politicians to stop their gimmicks and instead serve the citizens.

“This campaign will not end well and it’s sad that we are now perturbed to see how the two families will withstand the storm. Politicians should stop politicking at this moment for obvious reasons, its time to work,” he said.

Meanwhile, the two families are expected to conduct post-mortem on Friday after the former lawmaker paid for the expenses.

The two, Christopher Kariuki, 21, and Peter Mbothu, 15, lost their lives after chaos erupted between two rival political factions a few minutes before the arrival of the second in command at a fundraiser at AIPCA Church in Kenol town.

Their families have denied any involvement of the two in the chaos saying that they were just caught between the fighting groups and ended up losing their lives.
