Former MP Muchai murder case to proceed on July 21

The hearing of a case in which seven people are charged with murdering former Kabete MP George Muchai, his two bodyguards and a driver will resume on July 21.

At the same time, the previous trial judge Justice Justus Bwonwong’a has since quit the case following his retirement.

The case will now be heard by another judge.

The accused persons had urged the court to reduce their earlier Sh700,000 bond with alternative cash bail of Sh500,000  imposed on each of them, saying they are unable to raise the  bond terms but the judge declined the request.

In the case, Eric Isabwa alias chairman, Raphael Kimani alias Kim Butcher, Mustapha Kimani alias Musto, Stephen Astiva alias Chokore, Jane Wanjiru alias Shiro, Margaret Njeri and Simon Wambugu have since denied murdering the former lawmaker, his two bodyguards and a driver.

While giving his evidence, Dr governrment pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor told the court that the former MP was shot at close range with either a G3 rifle or AK47 gun.
