Flash floods displace hundreds in Kisumu

By and , September 9, 2022

Hundreds of families were marooned in floods following the heavy rains that have pounded parts of the Nyanza region in recent days.

In Kisumu county, the flash floods wreaked havoc on residents especially those living near rivers,  which broke their banks following heavy downpours on Wednesday evening.

A spot check by People Daily in Nyamasaria, Mowlem, Nyalenda, Manyatta, Kibos, Kabonyo Kanyagwal and Rabuor areas established ponds of water all over the roads, homesteads and some estates.

Several families as well as schools were hit by the floods that streamed into homesteads and estates. In some areas, the affected residents had sleepless nights struggling to drain the rainwater that flooded their homes.

Locals called on the county and national government agencies to act with speed in aid of the affected.
