Felix Koskei pleads with Kenyans to make corruption shameful and unfashionable

By , December 14, 2025

Head of Public Service Felix Koskei has issued a call to action, urging Kenyans to actively participate in the fight against corruption by rejecting, confronting, and reporting all forms of graft within the confines of the law.

In his X statement on Sunday, December 14, 2025, Koskei emphasised that the war on corruption cannot be left to institutions alone, but must be embraced as a collective responsibility by the public.

He challenged citizens to make corruption socially unacceptable, describing it as a vice that should be viewed with shame and disdain rather than tolerance or silence.

Koskei’s remarks come amid renewed national efforts to strengthen ethical leadership and restore public confidence in institutions. Earlier, President William Ruto directed anti-corruption agencies to focus on cleansing the National Assembly, accusing the August House of engaging in graft-related activities.

War on graft

“I am calling on the public to take a stand against corruption, firmly, clearly, and within the full confines of the law,” Koskei stated.

He urged Kenyans to cultivate a culture where corruption is not only illegal but also unfashionable, discouraging anyone from even contemplating engaging in it. ”Let us make it so shameful and unfashionable for anyone not only to think about corruption but also to proceed and engage in it,” Felix Koskei continued.

He outlined a three-pronged approach that citizens can adopt to confront corruption effectively. First, he encouraged the public to interrupt corruption whenever it is encountered by questioning suspicious actions and refusing to participate in corrupt dealings.

Secondly, he called on Kenyans to disrupt corruption by reporting it through established legal channels and oversight mechanisms. Finally, Koskei urged citizens to stop corruption by standing firm in their values, refusing to be compromised and working closely with oversight bodies.

”If you see corruption: Interrupt it — question it, challenge it, refuse to participate; Disrupt it — report it through the established legal channels and oversight mechanisms; and Stop it — by standing firm, refusing to be compromised, and collaborating with oversight bodies,” Koskei added.
