Here is what you need to know to keep up to speed with today’s happenings.

Mudavadi in Addis Ababa

Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi is in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to attend the African Union’s (AU) 46th Session of the Executive Council and vote for the AUC commissioners at the level of Foreign Ministers of AU Member States to be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.

During his visit, Mudavadi will also lead the last-minute campaigns for Raila Odinga’s African Union Chairmanship bid.

The Prime CS left the country on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

“As the African Union Commission (AUC) election of the Commissioners, and Chairperson position comes to the homestretch, Musalia Mudavadi, Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign & Diaspora Affairs, today (Tuesday, February 11, 2025) leaves for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to lead the last-minute campaigns for Raila Odinga’s Chair bid on February 12-17, 2025,” the statement issued by the Office of Prime Cabinet Secretary read in part.

The 46th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council will precede the 38th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union Summit.

Graft case

The Nairobi Anti-Corruption Court is expected to deliver a judgment in a graft case today February 12, 2025, against former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu, alias Babayao. Waititu, Susan Wangari Ndungu (his wife), Luka Mwangi Wahinya (former transport manager), alongside Charles Chege Mbuthia, Beth Wangeci Mburu, Testimony Enterprises Limited, Saika Two Estate Developers Limited, and Bienvenue Delta Hotel.

According to the statement by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), they were charged with irregular awarding of Ksh 588 million road tenders in Kiambu County in February 2018. Former Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu .

“The accused persons were found with a case to answer after 32 prosecution witnesses testified, and 129 exhibits were produced. Ferdinand Waititu and his co-accused face separate charges of conflict of interest, abuse of office, engaging in fraudulent practices in procurement, fraudulent acquisition of public property, and money laundering.

“The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Vincent Monda, Principal Prosecution Counsels Linda Mwamburi and Faith Mwila, and Prosecution Counsel Delroy Mwasaru,” the statement issued by the ODPP reads.
