Gachagua
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua will today attend a fundraiser at Bishop Gatimu Girls Kinyona, Kigumo, Murang’a County from 9:00 am.
Magical Kenya Ladies Open
Today marks day three of the ongoing Magical Kenya Ladies Open (MKLO) at the 18-hole Baobab Course in Vipingo Ridge, Kilifi County.
Magical Kenya Ladies Open, the only women’s professional golf tournament in East Africa, serve as the season-opener for the 2024 Ladies European Tour (LET) calendar.
South Africa’s Cara Gorlei yesterday surged ahead in the second round of the Magical Kenya Ladies Open.
Gorlei, initially tied for the lead with England’s Eleanor Givens and Ireland’s Lauren Walsh, demonstrated her determination from the outset, notching three birdies in the first three holes.
More action is expected today as golfers from across the world battle it out for the top prize.
Power interruptions
Kenya Power has announced that four counties are set to experience power interruptions today.
The utility company said the interruptions will occur at diverse times of the day.
Counties to be affected include Nairobi, Uasin Gishu, Trans Nzoia and Embu.
KPL
Gor Mahia will be looking for a bounce back after their first loss in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League when they host Ulinzi Stars today in Machakos.
After enjoying an impeccable run for 19 games unbeaten, Gor Mahia were finally defeated by Kenya Police, who saw them off with a 3-1 margin.
Going into week 21 action, the reigning champions will be looking to return to winning ways with a victory over their opponents Ulinzi Stars.
Meanwhile, Posta Rangers and Police will meet in the other match on Saturday in Machakos at 1:00 pm.
Bandari will host high-flying Nairobi City Stars at Mbaraki in a game scheduled to kick off at 3:00 pm.
AFCON
South Africa and D.R. Congo will today battle it out the third and fourth spots in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Ivory Coast.
South Africa’s dream of lifting AFCON trophy for the second time in their history came to an end after a dramatic penalty shootout defeat against Nigeria.
A 1-0 defeat to tournament host Ivory Coast in a thrilling semifinal clash saw D.R. Congo relegated to a third-place playoff match with South Africa.
The third-place playoff match can go either way as both South Africa and D.R. Congo have had an impressive run in the tournament.
