Fast-track innovations through teamwork – researchers told

Scholars across the country have been implored to fast-track innovations that offer solutions to daily societal challenges through by working in teams.
According to Zetech University head of innovation, entrepreneurship and technology hub Prof Peter Kibas, increased innovations will offer quality and all-time solutions to challenges bedeviling the current world.
Speaking at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) during the award ceremony for innovators who showcased their novelties during the Kiambu County organized youth, innovations and entrepreneurship workshop in March, the scholar upheld that only join efforts between researchers will help the world fast-achieve solutions to problems in the world.
While lauding the county for organizing the workshop, Kibas rooted the need for institutions to link outstanding innovators with industry experts for commercialization of the products.
“This is a great platform to empower the youth and help them showcase their innovations to various stakeholders. It is my appeal to the organizers of this exhibition to have more of such and also link the outstanding innovation with industry experts for commercialization,” he said.
Professor Kibas also divulged plans by Zetech University to organize a multidisciplinary Research Conference on sustainable innovations and called for submission of abstracts and concept papers from participants.
“It is through research that we create knowledge and find practical solutions to the technological, social and economic challenges facing our societies, Country and the world at large,” added Kibas.
Zetech University took home awards among them Animal-Online Farm by a Hannah Wambui, an ICT student from the Ruiru-based university.
The Animal-Online is a system where customers can interact with farmers to buy animals online, either for slaughter or rearing.
Another award scooped by Zetech University students are XOCO, an e-commerce platform that looks into offering a medium through which university students can easily sell and buy second-hand goods from each other innovated by Peter Tepela and John Wanderi.
