The family of June Onkundi (pictured), the Kenyan nurse who was fatally stabbed in the US on Tuesday afternoon by her patient, is demanding answers from owners of the facility after it emerged the culprit is a jailbird with a history of murder cases.

According to June’s elder brother Josephat Sagero, the deceased, who has worked as a nurse in the US for 27 years, had been allocated the male patient.

“She is our last-born sister. In fact, I lived with her when she first came to the US in 1997. She had just worked at the new facility for two months before this fatal incident. If the right procedures could have been followed in the facility, my sister could be alive today,” Sagero told People Daily.

He added:

“On the fateful day she reported to work at 11 am as usual in Durham, North Carolina, before her patient, James Gomes, stabbed her in the chest and stomach.” According to WRALNEWS, the Durham Police Department has launched investigations into the incident that happened Tuesday afternoon in the 400 block of Crutchfield Street.
