A Nairobi court has sentenced a man to three years in jail without the option of a fine after he pleaded guilty to the charges of impersonating a police officer.

Augustine Musume Juma pleaded guilty to the two counts of impersonation and being in possession of government stores before Milimani Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi.

The court heard that the accused was arrested on January 16 at Ngara area within Nairobi County while falsely presenting himself as a police officer.

He also faced another charge of being in a possession of police handcuffs, the property National Police Service – Administration police suspected to have been stolen.

The prosecution told the court that on the day of arrest, Musume approached Solomon Wachira, a watchman at Muslim Academy in Nairobi while presenting himself as a police officer and arrested him.
