Edwin Sifuna joins Kajwang family at requiem mass for late senator’s wife
By Mabonga Makhanu, November 5, 2025Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna joined the family of the late Senator Gerald Otieno Kajwang for the requiem mass of the late Rose Bujehela Otieno, who was the widow of the departed senator.
The funeral requiem mass, which was held at Nairobi Central SDA Church on Wednesday, October 5, 2025, was attended by members of the family led by his brothers, Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang and Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang, who was present during the recent viewing of the body of the late former prime minister.
It appeared to be taking a toll on him, as he was visibly emotional and unable to contain his emotions, forcing Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo to help him out and lead him away to pave the way for more viewers of the body.
He was also present during the requiem mass meant to dedicate his brother’s widow to the Most High.
Judging from the atmosphere in the church, where everyone was seated quietly following the funeral proceedings, a somber mood engulfed the entire room.
The body of the late Rose lay lifeless in a casket placed a few metres from the pulpit, with the casket adorned with flowers, indicating that the family had been deeply moved by her death.
At the time of her passing, she was a senior lecturer and director in charge of endowment and alumni programmes at Kenyatta University.
Homa Bay senator’s remarks
Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang, who took over the leadership of the county after his elder brother’s death and was also seated next to Sifuna, stated that they had congregated at the Nairobi Central SDA Church for a funeral service for the late Dr Rose Bujehela Otieno, PhD.
“We congregated at the Nairobi Central SDA Church for a funeral service for the late Dr Rose Bujehela Otieno, PhD. The late Dr Rose is the wife of the late Senator Gerald Otieno Kajwang. At the time of her death, she was a senior lecturer and Director in charge of Endowment and Alumni Programmes at Kenyatta University. Moses Kajwang said.
According to the family, most of whom are lawyers and are all in elective politics, the late Rose will be laid to rest beside her husband in Waondo Village, Suba North Constituency, on Friday, November 7, 2025.
