EACC survey shows most corrupt departments
The departments of police, births and deaths, health, County Public Service Board and Assembly in Nyamira have been ranked as leading in corruption.
In a report released by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption (EACC) two weeks ago, officers working in the five institutions demand bribes before offering services to the public.
In the police department, EACC cited that P3 forms were on sale at exorbitant fees and money given as bond bails were embezzled by officers in charge.
In the County Public Service Board, those seeking employment were meant to give huge bribes before being given or considered for jobs.
In the Assembly, the anti-graft agency revealed that residents who seek bursary forms from Ward Reps’ offices were forced to offer bribes before getting them and subsequently given the bursaries.
Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo yesterday said he has opened investigation into those implicated in corrupt deals. “This report has helped me to know the rot in some of the departments which I did not know. I want to assure the people of Nyamira that those found culpable could face the full force of the law,” he stated.
He said in the police and births and departments which fall under the National government, he has shared with the area County Commissioner Erastus Mbui who has also promised to take action against those implicated.
