DP Ruto attends Wanjigi’s Safina Party NDC at Bomas
Deputy President William Ruto is among the key guests who on Monday graced the Safina Party’s National Delegates Convention (NDC) at Bomas of Kenya where businessman Jimi Wanjigi was nominated as the party’s presidential candidate ahead of the August polls.
Ruto’s attendance follows an invite from Wanjigi who had also invited other politicians to the event. Speaking to a local publication, the tycoon revealed that he had also invited ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula and other leaders from across the political divide.
Wanjigi, however, noted that he did not invite ODM party leader Raila Odinga whom he accused of kicking him out of his NDC a few weeks ago.
“I do not have the opportunity to invite my former party leader Raila Odinga because he kicked me out unceremoniously from his own NDC; meaning he doesn’t want my company. I thought of inviting him for old times’ sake but right now it does not make sense,” Wanjigi told The Standard.
Ruto’s attendance at the NDC comes barely a week after Wanjigi also attended his NDC at Kasarani Gymnasium where the DP was crowned as UDA’s presidential candidate.
At the event, Ruto was accompanied by other leaders from Kenya Kwanza Alliance including Chama Cha Mashinani party leader Isaac Ruto, Kimilili MP Bidmus Barasa, Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua, Laikipia Woman Rep Cate Waruguru and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi among others.
