DP Kindiki vows to champion development across Kenya, warns against divisive politics
By Valerian Khakayi, March 14, 2025Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has called on Kenyans to ignore politicians who are attempting to derail the country’s development agenda for their personal benefit.
Speaking in an undated video, Kindiki urged the public to be wary of such individuals, whom he described as ‘evil-minded politicians’ whose actions are designed to undermine the welfare of ordinary citizens, adding that those politicians are attempting to block benefits from reaching common mwananchi simply because they are not personally gaining from the development initiatives.
The DP further emphasized that despite having made significant progress in delivering essential services like water, electricity, and markets, some politicians are trying to downplay these achievements by claiming that they are waiting for a change in the next government.
“We have two and a half years, and we have water, electricity, and markets. We have all these programs, but there are people trying to say, ‘Please, we do not need anything; we are waiting for another government.’ I want to urge you not to fall into the tricks of evil-minded politicians, who want to spoil for mwanainchi if they realize they are not benefiting individually,” Kindiki said.

Kindiki further stated that the right thing to do is to support the development of all regions in Kenya, regardless of political affiliation, because the ultimate goal is to improve the lives of all citizens.
“Even if I were not the deputy president of Kenya, I would support the development of Kenya and the development of this region because that is the right thing to do. Kuna watu wanasema am not a mwashimiwa wacha tuharibu hi maneno wanainchi wasipate kitu that is evil, it is unpatriotic, it is reckless because if our people can get benefits from this government, that would be the happiest thing,” he said.
Kindiki to critics
On Tuesday, February 18, 2025, he slammed critics pitting him against his boss, President William Ruto.
He reiterated his commitment to working with the president to help him achieve his goals, noting that his job is to assist the head of state, not fight him.
“Niliona wengine wananifundisha kazi…ooh unajua unafaa kukaa hivi, deputy president anakaanga hivi; my friend, si ushugulike na kazi yako, when that time comes si mimi ni deputy president, mtihani yangu si ya rais, ni ya deputy president, I will pass with flying colours kwa hio level, because kazi ya naibu wa rais ni kusaidia rais sio kupigana naye.
“That is not the job description. Hiyo ya kupigana na rais ni kazi ya opposition. Kama wewe ni deputy president, kazi yako ni kusaidia rais kwa udi na uvumba, mchana na usiku; kama hutaki kumsaidia, utoke, ujoin opposition,” he said.
