Dismantle rival Jubilee groups, urges President

By , November 28, 2019

President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday asked politicians to do away with the political groups campaigning for the 2022 elections.

Speaking during the launch of the Building Bridges Initiative report at Bomas of Kenya yesterday, Uhuru told MPs to abandon the pro-Deputy President William Ruto Tanga Tanga and Inua Mama Initiative and the Kieleweke and Embrace teams which are opposed to the DP’s presidential bid.

“Hii sijui Tanga Tanga, Kieleweke na Warembo wa sijui hii camp na ile ingine, please tuwache hii yote and we build one Kenya. (These groups Tanga Tanga, Kieleweke and their women wings… we should abandon them and instead build a united Kenya).

BBI opposition

Uhuru appealed to leaders not to divide the country and instead offer solutions to problems facing Kenyans.

“We should be talking about the problems facing our people and ensuring the country is peaceful. If we give Kenyans an enabling environment, they will elect the people they want,” he said.

Tanga Tanga and Inua Mama have been opposed to BBI claiming it was a scheme to block Ruto from ascending to the presidency in 2022 while Kieleweke and Embrace have been rooting for the Handshake between Uhuru and Opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Speaking earlier about division among women leaders, Murang’a Woman Rep Sabina Chege promised Uhuru they had agreed to dismantle the factions and focus on development.

“As women leaders, today we promise you that we are going to kill the Inua Mama and Embrace. From today,  they have officially come to an end,” she said.
