Detectives net 2 in Trans Nzoia raid, recover weapons
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives in Transzoia County have arrested two persons of interest in connection with organised crime after a well-coordinated security operation within the county.
Taking it to their X handle on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, the DCI has confirmed that the persons of interest were arrested in an intelligence-led raid by the officers of Kitale Police Station and a specialised DCI team. The DCI has further noted that the operation was targeting Chebarus and Kibomet in Trans Nzoia West Sub-County.
“Law enforcement officers in Trans Nzoia County have apprehended two suspects for their involvement in organised criminal activities, recovering weapons from their possession. Acting on intelligence, police officers from Kitale Police Station joined forces with a team of officers from DCI Headquarters, executing a well-coordinated raid in the Chebarus and Kibomet areas of Trans Nzoia West Sub-County, leading to the swift arrest of Dickson Wamocho and Frank Kuyala,” the DCI statement read in part.

Items recovered
According to the DCI, the scene was searched, and some items which were found and believed to have been utilised in the commission of crimes were retrieved. The items included a military-themed and tactical uniform, two pairs of combat boots, a sword, metal rods, and multiple mobile phones.
The directorate of criminal investigation has confirmed that the two are in custody, undergoing the processing process with detectives preparing to arraign them in court. All the recovered items are safeguarded as exhibits.
“The meticulous search that followed yielded a military-style tactical uniform, two pairs of combat boots, a sword, metal rods, and several mobile phones, all suspected of being utilised in criminal activities. The suspects are now in lawful custody, undergoing processing pending arraignment. All seized items have been secured as exhibits,” the statement added.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has once again reaffirmed its commitment to root out organised criminal networks in the country by conducting intelligence-based operations, even as it urged citizens to continue providing credible information that can be used to support ongoing operations.
