Soi Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Kositany has said Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives in Nakuru confiscated their phones for forensic audit over the stoning of ODM leader Raila Odinga’s chopper in Uasin Gishu County on Friday.

Kositany appeared at DCI -Rift Valley regional headquarters alongside Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi and Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker David Kiplagat on Sunday to record statement over the incident.

“They have confisticated our mobile phones over what they said is to help them in further investigations. We were here to shed more light on the Friday attack and we have explained ourselves before the detectives,” Kositany said.

He also commended the police for doing their work professionally.

“The police have been very cooperative, and I think there is a change in the manner in which things have been done, and will be done going forward. There is no more fear on ‘orders from above.’ We still however condemn the incident,” he said.

During the Friday incident, Raila’s vehicles and helicopter were pelted with stones by rowdy youths who were chanting pro-UDA slogans.

Police officers who had been deployed to the scene had to fire teargas to disperse the hostile crowd.

Deputy President William Ruto has since condemned the incident and apologised to the ODM leader because the attack happened at his stronghold.
