Dennis Onsarigo hails son after impressive marks in KCPE

Former ODM Press Secretary, Dennis Onsarigo, expressed his pride and emotions after his son, Andy, performed exceptionally well in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations.

Onsarigo, known for his role as an investigative journalist, commended his son for scoring 413 marks at Moi Kabarak Primary School.

Andy, who also served as the school’s president, received his father’s heartfelt congratulations, stating that 413 marks looked good on him.

“Proud of you Moi Kabarak Primary School President Andy. 413 looks good on you champ. No?” he said on his X account.

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu officially released the results of the 2023 KCPE examination on Thursday morning.

The top candidate achieved a score of 428 marks out of a possible 500, a slight decrease from the previous year’s highest score of 431.

Registered students

Machogu revealed that a total of 1,415,325 pupils were registered for the 2023 KCPE exam, with 1,406,557 candidates actually sitting for the exam.

Among them, 8,525 candidates scored between 400-500 marks, while 352,782 candidates scored 300-399 marks. Another 658,278 candidates attained a score of 200 to 299 marks, and 383,025 others scored between 100 to 199 marks. Additionally, 2060 pupils scored between 001 and 099 marks.

This KCPE exam marked the conclusion of the 8-4-4 education system in Kenya after 38 years, paving the way for the full implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

Kenya National Examinations Council CEO David Njeng’ere mentioned that the results for 1.2 million Grade Six learners who sat for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) exam will be disclosed at a later date.
